Story Death
Jan. 15th, 2009 11:51 pmI wrote a cute/lovely/angsty/cool 500 words flashfic, inspired by a few songs on the play list. First person, which I sometimes fall into but rarely actually like. LeeGaara, with, like, ouchiness to it, which I also sometimes fall into, but seldom choose to write.
It was done. Spellchecked. Whittled to 500 words exactly. Not 499, not 501. 500. With clear, clean sentences. A nice beginning, a hard hitting ending. I saved it. I went to get the links for the song so I could post them as well. I cut and paste them and a header into the fic folder, and saved it... made a change to the author's note, saved again.
Realized belatedly that during the first cut and paste, I had copied over the fic, and that during the second, I had made it irrecoverable.
Fic. Death.

Ficlet Offering

ice_is_blue has been very kindly prompting me for... oh, ever? ^__^ But I've jumped my self-imposed, for-no-real-reason, word total from 1k a day to 2k. And today is already mostly a failure. Sometimes I only get a drabble, sometimes only a 500 word ficlet... sometimes an idea goes nowhere and I have to ask for something else. So, I've been thinking, I'd give out a bit of a challenge. Leave a reply with one word, and I will do my best to write something on it. Don't leave a pairing or a fandom, though, because I tend to let the words do that for itself. Odd, yes, but it works out the best. You can leave a pairing, and I'll attempt it first, but it's less likely that I'll end up using it than using the word alone.
If I can get it to a point where I'm happy with it, as with the ficlets and drabbles I've been posting, then I'll share it. Other times, I leave the fics on the chopping blocks of my mind because I can't work around a spot, can't find the right words for an idea, etc. But I'll try. Leave one word, leave a list. ^__^ Not too long, though. Obscure is fine, as I don't mind looking them up, but what I come up with is very likely -not- what you were probably thinking.
That's all the warnings, what 'rule's' there are. ^__^
Bring on the New Year
Dec. 28th, 2004 11:51 pmSo, I have been writing lately, but not anything I should be. I would like to say that I'm getting all my WiPs in order, but that would be a flat-out lie, since I don't think I've touched anything which needed working on since November.
I have isolated part of my difficulty, though. Or, at the least, I have present/current diagnosis for my writer's block: I have too many fandoms. This makes Rae a bad, bad girl. However, it's a problem which is (hopefully) easily rememied. I'm splitting up my fandoms by months.
Every Day will have its chance in February, along with something that might be a V-day fic. We'll see.
For the coming month, though: Gundam Wing.
There are three stories I would currently like to write and which I will be concentrating on in January. Updates will most likely be at my GJ (www.greatestjournal.com/~raegan_1 )
Stories, in alphabetical order: Just to Touch You (tentative title), Subtle, and That Ain't Love. To show how much of a pairing whore I am, in that I'll take anything, those stories are 3+4+3, 2+3+2, and 2+5+2. It should be an interesting month.
At this point, my disks are out and ready to go, the Wing Zero manga (english version) is sitting on my stand, and I have all my files open in NoteTab.
So New Year, come right along in.
