Summary: Ken reminisces.

Ken runs a hand over the green blob on the right elbow of Daisuke's coveralls and remembers painting the bathroom of the first apartment they'd shared. The original paint had been an eyesore, but no matter how many layers of white they tried to paint over it, the color bled through. They'd finally settled for a darker color, and the green had looked very nice, especially with the white tiles and countertop. They'd made love in the shower only once, because Daisuke had slipped and sprained his wrist.

After flipping the sleeve over, Ken can see the red swipe over the shoulder. The red was darker than what Ken would have chosen, but he'd tired of the dull white in the room he used as an office in their second apartment. Daisuke had taken it upon himself to paint the room and stain the furniture a dark brown. It had taken Ken a week to actually bring himself to try working in the room, during which time he and Daisuke had argued over trivial things and Ken had very nearly moved out again. The room had been comfortable, and he'd found himself using it as a reading room at some point in the second week. His apology to Daisuke had been the latest gaming console and a bigger television, all of which got less use than their bed in the weeks that followed.

He follows the strip to the bottom tip and then down, across the unblemished material of the chest and stomach, and down to the left thigh, where blue and white blend in a swirl. Their third and current apartment had been a fixer-up, owing to the temper of the previous tenants. When they'd heard it was open, they'd pleaded with the landlord for the chance to upgrade in size, agreeing to take on the task of renovating it in exchange for a lesser rent. It had been worth it.

Their bedroom had been a pleasant yellow to start with, but it matched none of their bedding and it really hadn't been their color. The discussion over what color to paint it had been short. "Blue?" "Blue." The white is primer from the trim, which Ken had picked because it was an easy choice, and even easier to paint over if they should want to change it later. Which they hadn't.

The door opens and Ken looks up, smiling to see Daisuke in the doorway holding a paint brush. "I've got all the paint. I just need to change and we're ready to do the kitchen."

Ken nods and picks the coveralls up to hand to Daisuke. He angles his body to block Daisuke's view of the bag on the floor. In it are a new pair of coveralls in Daisuke's size, but Ken doesn't mention it and probably won't until after he's returned them. There's more than paint in Daisuke's old pair, and Ken has decided he's rather fond of them, after all.

Awww. Rather mellow, and sweet, too. Talk about sentimental value. Ken is so adorable. I liked it~

Every Day... what is this of which you speak? *looks innocent* Yeah. Currently, I'm not touching any of my old projects, at least not until I've gotten myself into some sort of pattern writing. I get frustrated too easily, I think. But some day, I hope.
