Title: Lemon Drops

Prompt: Fleur and lemon drops.
Notes: Set GoF and featuring Albus Dumbledore. Thank you to[livejournal.com profile] ice_is_blue for awesome, last minute beta. *love*

It had been many years since Albus had last swam in the Lake, but the clammy feeling its the water left on bare skin was hard to forget. Albus stepped closer to the dripping girl and transfigured another blanket to wrap around her trembling shoulders. Fleur didn't seem to notice; the entirety of her attention was focused on the lake's still surface. Albus suspsected the only thing holding her back from re-entering the water was the stern warning of her Headmistress.

That, and perhaps a lingering fear from her near-drowning. Ten minutes before, she had risen to the surface floundering for air and safety, too cold and frightened to properly thank the boys who had jumped in the water to help her to the platform.

They were waiting. Already forty minutes had elapsed since the beginning of the challenge with no sign of the remaining tournament champions in the lake.

Albus placed a hand on Fleur's shoulder, renewing the warming charm on the blankets covering her. The combination turned her attention from the lake to him. She turned her head to look at him, her normally bright blond hair dark from the water and sticking to her face in stringy strands.

He smiled at her, confident in his words when he said, "She'll be okay." Her eyes searched his, looking for reassurance which she seemed to find after a minute. She gave him a wan smile in return and accepted his offer of a lemon drop. Then her eyes returned once more to the water, her thoughts no doubt having never left Gabrielle. But now the panic which had lurked and threatened to send her rashly back in was gone. He could sympathize with her fear.

Albus had family down there, as well.

Happy V-day, chickie!

Hey, Bronze-baby. Happy Valentine's Day to you and the Tiger, and to the cub and cubling, of course.

I hope you have a fun day. My nephews gave to their parents the gift of a freshly plowed drive. (Snow = fun + work.)

This is nice--I really like this sort of scene, where you can see the differences that small kindnesses make.

I'm glad you liked it.

As soon as I got the prompt, this scene popped into my head, with Albus and his candy-comfort obsession.

Thank you so much for letting me know you liked it.

This was the picture my brain came up with the second I got the prompt.
